"愛蓮說" (Ài Lián Shuō) is a poem written by the Chinese poet and scholar Zhou Dunyi (周敦颐) during the Song dynasty.

The poem, which is also known as "On Love for the Lotus," is a meditation on the beauty and symbolism of the lotus flower. It expresses the poet's admiration for the lotus, which grows from muddy waters yet remains pure and elegant and reflects on the lotus's spiritual significance in Chinese culture.

The poem is divided into four sections, each describing a different aspect of the lotus. In the first section, the poet praises the lotus's beauty and compares it to the moon in the sky. In the second section, he reflects on the lotus's roots and how they anchor it firmly in the mud. In the third section, he describes the lotus's stem and leaves, which are flexible and resilient, able to withstand wind and rain. Finally, in the fourth section, he meditates on the lotus's flower and its association with enlightenment in Buddhism.

The poem "愛蓮說" is considered one of the greatest works of Chinese poetry and has been widely admired for its elegant style and profound symbolism. It continues to inspire readers and scholars today as a testament to the enduring power of Chinese poetic and philosophical traditions.
